Hi,

I am in the process of cleaning up my site (simple catch theme) before installing the Pro Version.  In checking, I’ve noticed that I have used the default frontpage in Settings Reading, that is the “blog as landing page” . The blog contains the slider image.  However, I want to set the static front page to”Home Sweet Home”  and the posts page as “Internet Marketing Blog”  – the aim is for the site to appear as a website, not a blog. When trying the set the front page display in Reading Settings, I have noticed a range of front page options, one of which is the Home Sweet Home page, that’s great. But, when looking at the posts page, it has repeated these ‘page”options – i.e. not the ‘Internet Marketing Blog” nor the 3 published posts I currently have up.

I am concerned that the “posts” do not come up in the Reading static page display “post pages” settings, I’ve tried a post with the “Internet Marketing Blog” name, and it doesn’t work, I’ve checked the menu, and added a category – in the Reading settings. 

What I want is the landing page set to “Home Sweet Home” and have the slider page on this page.  I would also like to set the “Internet Marketing Blog as the posts page with current posts on this page, if this means another slider, that’s okay. This would mean the same slider on 2 pages – one on the home-sweet-home page and one on the Internet Marketing Blog.

So, before proceeding with the upgrade, do I have cause for concern? And if so, any suggestions on getting this to work?  My site is http://www.iwritegreatcopy.com.

Just an upate.  You can tell I’m new at wordpress. So, I now understand to set static pages, you need  a page called  “blog”  which acts like a page and not a post.  And, that so long as I set the posts page to that “Blog page” in Settings, my posts will remain in place.  Great! Do I have to reset my sub-categories (I have 3 sub-categories) to the “parent” Blog page? Or does this matter?  And, do I have to reset the breadcrumb trail?

Now, what about the slider? Will this only appear on the “Blog” page? Or can I  also set the slider to appear on the “Home”  page as well as the “blog” page?  As the slider creates impact, I would like this set on the home page, and duplicated on the “blog” page if possible.

@karinschultz: To show slide in both the blog and homepage you need to edit the code or upgrade to pro version where you have option to enable slider on all pages.

You have to edit the function simplecatch_sliderbreadcrumb() and simplecatch_scripts_method(), where you have to change is_home() || is_front_page()

Hi Sakin, I am installing the up-grade today.  If you can clarify in the Free Version,

I am using Breadcrumb Nav XT.  My categories are

1st level category- internet marketing blog

– 3 sub -categories running off this parent – case studies, strategies, toolbox

At the momment in the breadcrumb trail I have a duplicate  internet marketing blog labels showing up on the breadcrumb trail.

If I eliminate the 1st level post category will this eliminate the duplication?Also I do not understand your response. Is this edit to be placed in the custom CSS in your theme, or do I have to edit the plugin?

@karinschultz: I just check in “Breadcrumb Nav XT” plugin in Simple Catch Theme and it is working fine for Category but I don’t know what you did for settings in “Breadcrumb NavXT Settings”.

The changes I asked you is but complicate for slider. You need to know the coding of Php and WordPress functions. So, you need to get developer to edit that.
