Also:  I have created 3 sample posts, but they are not showing up on the post page.  I can’t find any settings for why they may be blocked.

To show your posts on your desired page,

Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Customizer > Homepage Settings and choose “A static page ”

and you will find a post page section where you can assign a desired page where you want to show your posts
