I am having trouble placing Adsense ads. I am switching from one theme to Catchbox Pro and though I have most of it figured out, I would like to place some ads in particular spots and I’m using the same plugin “Adsense Insert” as I did with the last theme, because it allows me to place the ads in particular spots.
These are the two places I’m having difficult with:1.At the top of the page and to the right of a banner I have on the left side. There is a huge blank space to the right of the banner and that’s where I’d like to place and ad.
2.In the first post, at the top and to the left. Though my Adsense Insert setting should allow me to place and ad there but when an ad shows up, it seems to fall under the post and not within it or beside it. It isn’t visible except the very edge of it under the post box.
One other thing: How do I get rid of the search box at the top on the left side? I cannot seem to find an option to get rid of it.
Any help would be appreciated.
January 21, 2013 at 3:04 pm #3190SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: For your question 1 and 2 you need to create child theme and do the customization. There is not option in Catch Box Pro. To create child theme you can use the service of tweaky with whom we partner for customization.
To get rid of the Search box at the top, you can go to your WordPress Dashboard -> Theme Options -> Header Options”. then check Disable Search in Header?
January 21, 2013 at 7:27 pm #3193fidlertenMemberSo you’re saying there is no access to a huge portion of the very top of the page. I don’t understand;the images I saw promoting this theme, showed that area being utilized. I of course assume when I look at a photo of what I suppose to be getting and instead, I get a blank space that I cannot fill unless I pay someone some more to change it.
I have a better idea; why don’t I just do a some searching on the internet and find some help there for free.I have to admit, I’m rather disappointed to know I have to do a lot more work, simply because someone designs a theme so that after buying it, you then find you have to spend a great deal more money, just to have further access to what you already paid for. That’s like a car dealer showing off a car and after the person buys it, the car dealer tells them that they actually only bought the back end and they’ll need to pay some more money if they want the front.
Thanks for the level of service, tells me to be more careful next time picking a theme.
January 22, 2013 at 12:54 am #3199SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: See this how we have presented the demo of our site http://catchthemes.com/demo/catchbox-pro/ . We haven’t shown any misleading images. In this demo site you can see the search at the top right.
I just gave you the option for payed customization and we have nothing to do with it. You can choose any developer or any customizer to customize it for you. The service you have asked in is not there in our Catch Box Pro theme. I think you are taking a conversation to a different direction. We don’t get any money from your customization. It’s not our money making policy. We are just trying to help you by showing you that there is an option. Rest is all your decision.
Please carefully see the Theme Demo page and theme description page before buying any theme.
January 22, 2013 at 1:15 am #3200fidlertenMemberSakin,
Forgive me for being so direct and hostile, but it is not the money for the theme I am frustrated about. I have just spend the last few days trying to set a Wamp server test site up to replace an existing one and the theme I chose has an empty space that I wish to fill with something of my choosing. And now I am being told that is not possible without much difficulty.
This is what I want to know Sakin; why is it that such a large swath of a page is set up so that the website owner needs to find someone to fix it for them?
I am also confused about this statement of yours, I am not sure what you are saying:
The server you have asked in not there in our Catch Box Pro theme.
As far as the search box, I figured that out, and the part about adding the Adsense ads through the rest. But, the only thing holding me up now, is a huge blank spot at the top of my website. Shouldn’t be a problem but I’m not getting any help here I see.
January 23, 2013 at 12:26 am #3221SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: It’s the service sorry I typed it server.
Yes, the Catch Box Pro theme was designed in to make it clean and spacious that is why there is lot of blank white spaces. Also this theme is responsive that is why it is difficult to add stuff in the header and then make it responsive.
If you know the coding then you can edit the header.php file and add the ads there and then make it responsive with style.css but for these changes please build child theme of Catch Box Pro. If you just directly change it in the core theme file then when we update it. All your customization will be gone.
See this tutorial in creating child theme http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2011/12/creating-your-first-wordpress-child-theme/

SakinJanuary 23, 2013 at 8:03 am #3235fidlertenMemberThank you Sakin, that is what I had discovered from a search at WordPress.org. I haven’t had much time lately to work on it but if I have anymore questions, I will get back to you.
Sincerely,
fidlerten
January 23, 2013 at 11:40 am #3245SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: Ok sure. Let me know if I can help you on any other things.
January 23, 2013 at 7:08 pm #3249fidlertenMemberSakin,
Yes, I do need your help with another issue.
When I create a child theme from Catchbox Pro 1.2, which is your latest update, I get a message saying I need to update the current theme. It shouldn’t be asking me this because I got the original child theme from the 1.2 updated version.
So, I went ahead and updated it again by changing to another theme and deleting all of Catchbox Pro. Then reinstalling the updated version of Catchbox Pro, then creating yet another child theme, and again, getting the same old message that the child theme needs updating.
Right now, I’m going to just ignore the update until you can tell me what I need to do.

January 23, 2013 at 7:56 pm #3250SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: You child theme version need to be same version with the parent theme or you can even make it greater then parent theme to avoid this message.
January 23, 2013 at 9:50 pm #3258fidlertenMemberThey are the same version; the parent theme is Catchbox Pro 1.2 and so is the child theme, being that I got the child theme from it originally. What would you suggest I do; reinstall the earlier version of Catchbox Pro, create a child and then update the child?
I’m a little confused why it is doing that, being that it is updated already.
January 25, 2013 at 6:51 pm #3315SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: There is good news for your. We have added Header Right Sidebar where you can add widget is top right side of header. Also, we have fixed the Theme updater notice. Now it will not show that in child theme and all. Please download the Catch Box Pro Version 1.2.1 from your account in Catch Themes and install it in your site.
January 25, 2013 at 7:38 pm #3317fidlertenMemberSakin,
I haven’t tried the new update yet but it sounds absolutely wonderful.
I have to humbly apologize for my abrasive attitude earlier. Since I had been been working to get this site up with so many roadblocks, that I let my frustrations get the better of me. Please forgive me. You have responded beautifully to the problem and you have also improved your Catchbox Pro’s whole design, making it easier for newbies like me.
Thank You much and I’ll let you know how the update goes.
My Best Regards,
fidlerten
January 25, 2013 at 10:01 pm #3319SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: It’s ok I can understand. Good for me when I get complains as I work hard to improve it. If everyone is always satisfied then I feel lazy… All the best with your work. Cheers. Have a nice weekend.
January 26, 2013 at 9:58 am #3340fidlertenMemberSakin,
I haven’t been able to get it to work yet.
I dropped a Adsense ad in it and set it first for a Leaderboard of 728 x 90 and since that didn’t work, I placed a smaller one: 468 x60. Neither one worked.
What is the limit of space available for an ad? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
fidlerten
January 26, 2013 at 5:31 pm #3347SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: That is in percentage. Did you update your Theme? If you are adding the 728px width ads then add the following CSS in “Custom CSS” box in your Theme Options:
#sidebar-top { max-width: 728px; width: auto;}
Send me your site URL of how it looks and then I can send your exact css. Can you try this and let me know it.
January 27, 2013 at 2:29 am #3362fidlertenMemberSakin,
I don’t have a URL as I have the site offline, it’s on a WAMP server. It’s to replace the existing site at fidlerten.com
I have taken a screen shot of the top half of the webpage.

The top right side is where I would like to place the ad.
I added the code you gave me in my CSS but it has not changed anything.
January 28, 2013 at 7:35 pm #3406SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: You need to add that ads in Header Right Sidebar and then you need to add the css that I gave you in “Custom CSS ” in theme options panel not on sytle.css
January 29, 2013 at 12:51 am #3418fidlertenMemberThat is exactly what I did. I added the code you gave me to Theme Options, Custom CSS. I also added the ad to Header Right Sidebar.
What size of ad have you used that works with it?
fidlerten
January 29, 2013 at 12:56 am #3419SakinKeymaster@fidlerten: That code is for 728 x 90 ads. Can you add it and show me your screenshot. Also don’t worry once you make the site live where I can see it. I will fix it anyway.
