Hi –  (not sure if the Forum ID I chose is correct)

When my webhosting service, who is updating things, does that (update PHP version to 8.3), the website fails.  website: http://www.standardcartage.com

The error message that shows is the following:

[09-Nov-2025 17:34:15 UTC] PHP Fatal error:  Declaration of catchthemes_search_form::widget($args) must be compatible with WP_Widget::widget($args, $instance) in /home/standard/public_html/wp-content/themes/catch-mustang/functions/catchthemes_widgets.php on line 1289

He says:  the theme catch mustang needs an update to be able to work with PHP 8.3.

I can’t see how to update catch mustang. Does my license need to be active?

Seems the theme you are using is of version 2.3. Please I suggest you to renew your license and activate it.

You can renew the theme from your account.

1. First, log in to https://catchthemes.com/my-account/ page: Once you are on the My Account page, click on “View Licenses,” and you will see the status of your license
2. If your license key has expired, then you need to click on “Renew license” and check out. But if you want to renew it before it expires, then you need to click on “Extend license” and then check out.

Hello Sujeet, Thank you for the instruction. I have done that and we’ve tried to upload the new version (4.1). Here is what my webhoster has said, please let me know if you can do what he suggests, or what our next step should be. Thank you!

I was able to get into catch themes yesterday and download the new version of the theme.

This is to go from version 2.3 to version 4.1.

I made a backup first and then tried the normal method of upgrading.

It was a failure because half the customization was missing and a lot of default stuff was missing.

I restored the site and then tried manually uploading the new theme to a new theme folder.

When I switched over to the new version I got the same site missing a lot of information.

Maybe you can contact them and find out if they can perform the upgrade for you without losing any website data.
