I turned off the side bars to have the content from blog posts, etc.. fill the page. Unfortunately, it doesnt actually change even with the side bars off. Is there a way to have content fill the full page, not just the left hand side?

Go to => Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Layout Options => Default Layout => Select No Sidebar: Full Width and Publish.
