Hello again 🙂
I have one more question I would need help with:
Today I updated my catch box and by doing this I lost the links of google authorship I had inserted into my header.php on the FTP server. I had copied them before the update being afraid something like that could happen and re-inserted them afterwards but I would like to find a solution how to avoid this procedure with future updates. Would you have an idea how to handle this best? Many thanks in advance.

February 19, 2014 at 11:45 am #20522SakinKeymaster@MMchen: Sorry but you are not supposed to change any core theme files directly. If you want to change header.php then you can just build child theme and then copy header.php from Catch Box theme to your child theme and then edit there. This way when you update the parent theme, your child theme file will not be changed.
Also I see that you have added google code directly which is not right method to do it. I see that you have install WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast. So, you can just add it from there. Go to “SEO => Social => Google+” from your WordPress dashboard and add utl URL.
February 24, 2014 at 3:09 pm #20702MMchenMemberGreat, thanks Sakin. I will have a look at it.
Now, one more thing about child themes. I am not experienced at all, but have already started creating a child theme. I created the child folder, added the style.css and inserted the requested text as given in the wordpress instructions. Sofar so good but when I want to activate it in my dashboard/design/themes I see a message that the theme is damaged. It says:
Catch Box/ The overriding theme is missing. Please install the overriding theme
Child / “catch box” or else you cannot use the child theme. What happened here?
It also says that that theme is installed but not complete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
What did I do wrong here? My child theme does only contain style.css so far.But I can see the original version nevertheless.

I just added the google+ publisher link into SEO Yoast but I cannot find an option to insert the author links anywhere.Sorry about this mess but I do not have much experience and am learning by doing. Sometimes this does not work 😉
February 24, 2014 at 4:36 pm #20706MMchenMemberHello again
You can ignore the before posted because I could solve the problem with the child theme meanwhile (I had a misstyping in it). I activated it now, but it still looks different than before and I did not change a thing. The colour is different and the menue shows more than it is suppose to. Here I would need your help how to solve this problem.

And the other question:I just added the google+ publisher link into SEO Yoast but I cannot find an option to insert the author link anywhere.
Many thanks.

February 26, 2014 at 11:04 pm #20772SakinKeymaster@MMchen: After you build child theme, your menu and color might change to default. You can assign menu from “Appearance => Menus” and then you can change the color from “Appearance => Theme options” and from “Appearance => Background”
You can add link in “Appearance => Theme Options => Social Icons”
March 6, 2014 at 11:54 pm #21040MMchenMemberHi Sakin
A late thanks to you for your help. But do I understand you right to add the google+ publisher link to Social icons? This seems strange to me.
March 7, 2014 at 12:05 am #21041SakinKeymaster@MMchen: Sorry I don’t get it what you mean. The Google Google Publisher settings in in WordPress SEO by Yoast and to add social icons then you can use “Appearance => Theme Options => Social Icons”. I just mean this. For more details, you need to ask in plugin author forum.
March 7, 2014 at 7:21 pm #21060MMchenMemberHi Sakin
I try again:
My question refers to this:
I just added the google+ publisher link into SEO Yoast but I cannot find an
option to insert the author link anywhere. Is only one link (either author or publisher link) necessary for google+?
Regarding the social icons I will open a new thread.
March 7, 2014 at 7:25 pm #21061SakinKeymaster@MMchen: You need to add your google+ publisher link into SEO Yoast “Google Publisher Page:”. Then you will see Optons “Author for homepage:” There you can choose the author/user in your site. Then in that user profile, you need to add Google+ author link from “User => Your Profile” in your WordPress dashboard.
