I am trying out this theme to see if it will work for the site I am starting to redo. Is it possible for the featured slider to be of images which don’t necessarily link to a specific page? I was actually considering trying to replace the images in the demo to see if this could achieve this. Would it need to be a child theme for this strategy to work?

Where is the text for the text/link overlays controlled?

@catwingz: The Featured Slider option with slider type image is only available in pro version of the theme. I suggest you to upgrade to pro. You can check out the additional-features available in pro version of the theme.
