My menu somehow got completely disorganized; the sub categories are gone, some ideas were lost, and the menu itself is covering my front page. I deleted my menu but it still won’t go away. Any suggestions?

If you do want to remove the primary menu, go to Dashboard=> Appearance=> Customize=> Menu Options and check Check to disable Primary Menu option.
Hope this helps. Let me know further.Regards,

Originally, the menu sits on top of the page with categories, subcategories, etc. But what somehow the menu broke and covers most of my main page and is all over the place, so I’m looking to find a way to fix that. Does that make sense?

Go to Dashboard=> Appearance=> Menus then select the Menu in Select a menu to edit, if you do not have any, create one then add the menu items from left and it will populate under Menu Structure, Then arrange them in Menu Structure by dragging each item into the order you prefer. If you prefer to have sub-items, drag them under the a menu with a little indent to the left.
After you’ve finished arranging, scroll down and check Primary Menu in Theme Location in the same page then click Save.
Hope this helps.Regards,
