Hi Sakin,

at the bottom of the page in the comments section, I’d like to add two more things that I’ve seen on other websites:

1. A field that asks the person who comments for an optional website address (great for bloggers)

2. A tickbox where the person who comments can decide to be notified by email when I or somebody else replies to this post (like at the bottom of this page)

How can I do this?

@Michaela: Sorry this falls under plugin territory so this cannot be added in theme. So, you need to search for plugin to do this or you need to hire customizer and build child theme to do this.

thanks a lot for the info.
I looked for some plug-ins that do the job, and I list them here so others with the same problem can use this solution:
For 1. Use the Jetpack feature “Jetpack comments” for the website
For 2. Use the Jetpack feature “subscriptions”
