Can I change the Home link so that it goes back to my main website (not WP)? I assume this would be in the Editor as the Menu options seem pretty sparse. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks! -Derryl

    Hi @4Dmaze,

You can change your site URL in Dashboard=> Settings=> General Settings=> Site URL if you want your site home page to be different from your WordPress installation directory.

    Hope this helps.

Pratik, thanks for the quick reply. That certainly looked like it should do the trick but it didn’t work. As you suggested I changed my ‘Site Address (URL)’ from http://www.sample.com/wp to http://www.sample.com but then none of my pages could be found as WP now looks for the WP pages in the root directory.

I changed it back but now I am locked out of my site including the admin panel. I get 404’s. Any suggestions?

    Humm,

Thats strange. It should have worked. You should be able to access http://www.sample.com/wp/wp-admin and login from there and revert the changes.

Yes, I have tried /wp/wp-admin. It was the first thing I tried. I guess I will have to reinstall. That is a dangerous setting.

Other thing you can do is go to your database and go to your prefix_options table and then change the home option (most probably in second row).

I wasn’t able to find that in the database. I reinstalled the theme but still not working. I put in a URL of paths I knew exist but it says “jQuery is not properly loaded in the header. Your blog theme is probably missing the wp_head() call. Please contact your theme developer.”

Does this mean I have to reinstall WP as well? I hope not.

    Hi @4Dmaze,
I think that message is from a plugin. Can you post in your site url so i can check it.

    Thanks,
    Pratik

Thanks, I started over from scratch. Still need to change where the Home link goes though. Is there a safer way that won’t scramble my WP install? Maybe in the HTML somewhere?

If you create Pages in WordPress they will be added to the ‘nav bar’ in that theme automatically. This is provided by the use of the template tag, wp_list_pages(), in that theme’s header.php file. I thought the header.php used the template tag, wp_list_pages(), for that.

I have made changes in my theses two websites you cans see the example here:

Thanks Dhawan. I looked at your sites but I am not seeing what you mean.

My problem is that if I go to one of the pages I have created in WordPress and then have my Home button go to my main website, I can not. I can change the home page using Dashboard=> Settings=> General Settings=> but then the other links no longer work. I don’t know if this a bug or not.

My entire site is not WordPress, only certain pages are. I need links in the WP pages to go back to the main site.

Example of WP page: http://billzender.com/wp/single-deck-3/ The home page is still in WP currently but I want it to go to http://billzender.com. Hope this makes sense. Thanks. -Derryl
