Thanks Sakin. I would like Mahesh to check out my Child Theme. I asked HostGator to re-set my site to a default theme to enable me to access my Dashboard. I was able to reactivate Simple Catch Pro Theme. I do want to use the Child Theme in order to use the Regenerate Thumbnail plug-in. This makes for a more professional look regarding the images so they are not cropped when using the image slider. Hey Mahesh, My slider images are now working fine. However, the images that are re-sized from 976 x 312, to 210 x 210 show up as a rectangle. My preferance is for that image to show as 210 x 210 square. Please have a look on the site “happypsycic.com. to see what I mean. I have seen what I want in your demo sight for Simple Catch Pro Theme.

Hi @rflores,

This is because, we add the code in child theme’s functions.php so that the image’s aspect ratio is maintained and not be cut off to show only the middle part of the image like it had before by default which was your issue. Now if you upload the image, it will be resized to 210px with aspect ratio maintained (if you upload a rectangle image, the resized thumbnail will also be a rectangle not 210px x 210px square).

Hello Mahesh. Yes, my site is working fine with the code changes we made. My intent was to have the new code for the slider 976 x 313, which is a rectangle image, per your recommendations. That is fine. However, I want the 210 x 210 image to be a square image where the aspect is maintained. I want my site to look just like your demo site “/catchthemes.com/demo/simplecatch-pro/”.
Can I do this by simply uploading a 212 x 212 square image after I have set the slider image at 976 x 313.

Hi @rflores,

For that, you’ll need to remove the code in child theme’s functions.php that I provided you earlier and run Regenerate Thumbnails once.
As you are using post’s featured image in your slider and uploading 212 x 212 square image won’t fix the issue as slider will use the new uploaded image too.

Hello Mahesh. We added the functions.php code to get away from the thumbnail image being cropped. This worked but I want a square thumbnail. I am currently using image post slider. If I change to image slider, will this change allow me to upload square images as featured images in the Home page when. I hope I am explaining myself clearly.

@rflores: If you are using image slider, you can use a square image in the post featured image and it will display square image in blog list. I thought you were using post slider, so earlier I mentioned it won’t fix the issue. But you are using different slider, it will work. 🙂

Hello Mahesh. I am having trouble using my event calendar. When I add a new event and press publish, nothing happens. No event shows up. I am using Simple Catch Pro Child Theme. There is an update for Simple Catch Pro 3.3 to 3.6 available. Do I need to update? My url is happypsychic.com. Also what is the simplest way to submit a new post to you? Not very clear.

@rflores: We suggest you do update the themes. But I don’t think the problem is because of old version. May be a plugin issue or something.
I don’t understand the last part, simplest way to submit a new post what do you mean by this?

Hello Mahesh. I am having lots trouble with adding events to my website; cannot get it to work. Additionally, there is an update available for my Simple Catch Pro theme. I am using the Simple Catch Pro Child Theme. When I try to update, I get an error message that the update is unavailable. I am trying to update by activating the Simple Catch Pro theme; when I am successful I change back to Child Theme. Frustrating. Its important that I resolve the events calendar issue. @rflores: What seem to be the problem? I assume you are not able to update the theme yet, cause you are using Simple Catch Pro (ver 3.3) while the latest version available is ver 3.6. Pro theme cannot be updated directly as free themes. You can download the updated theme from Catch Theme’s account page

Then use Catch Web Tools plugin’s Catch Updater module to update the theme.

Mahesh Thanks for the help. Update for Simple Catch Pro 3.6 successful. I am still having issues with my events calendar. When I add a new event, the event is not published. I believe I am missing small step. When I click on the event in my menu, I get the following error message.

“Error 404 – Page Not Found.
