Problem solved! It was a conflict with the Photon plugin in Jetpack. Once I disabled it and remade the thumbnails they work perfectly. For future reference, you can fit small images into the slider with post thumbnail editor if you crop them individually.

Also at one point all of the images currently in my slider fit in the slider, and now they dont. For example the one with the gun was stretched and zoomed in, but it still fit. I dont understand why they dont do it now?

so do i need to create images with the slider resolution before I ever even upload them?

second image on slider is a huge image, see how it cuts it off at the feet?

I use giant images and now it only shows a fraction of it. I get that the whole image cant fit, but this is underlying problem I cant crop and create the thumbnails as I see fit.

I still cant see my own slider, its not showing on homepage. Also I tried using an image large enough, but then it only showed the bottom portion of the image even though I created a thumbnail for the top half.

I disabled photon but now the slider wont show up at all. I made sure to enable it under theme options featured slider as well.

I set it now for the statue of liberty and I cropped it high but you can see it crops it at the bottom for some reason…

Ok but that doesnt explain how they all worked before. For example the picture of the gun was zoomed in but it covered the whole slider. I also tried with a much larger image and created the slider thumbnail, but instead it only used the bottom part of the image. Is there a thumbnail creator I should be using? I use post thumbnail editor.
