Sakin: Building child themes and creating functions = more time. If there is no downside to simply changing the status of posts from ‘Published’ to ‘Draft’ in order for them not to show up in a search, then I’ll stay with my method … for now. Thanks for your reply.

    Sakin:

    Site: http://www.mitchell-engineering.com

All our information is contained within Pages; we don’t have or use Posts. The only posts that exist were created to allow the featured post slider, but they do not contain any information. Yet, they will appear in a search result if the search phrase matches (or contains) the post’s name.

A workaround that I’m currently using is to use ‘Images Slider’ as the type of slider for the Featured Slider, and then edit the Status of all Posts from Published to Draft.

But, is there a more general way to exclude Posts from a search?

    Thanks.

    Sakin-

As a test before the launch, we moved our (local) site to a public domain. And, while most items worked correctly, some did not, e.g. featured sliders, our logo, and posted images.

While I could change the featured sliders’ URL, we could not get our logo and posted images to appear as they still referenced the old domain even though the image URL’s were correct.

Then we did the ‘search-and-replace’ you recommended. Now everything works correctly!

Thanks for saving us hours of lost time.

We moved a copy of the site to a public domain and is temporarily available at http://mitchell-engineering.com/mitchell-engineering/?page_id=1529.

The linked page displays various slide shows. If you hover your mouse over any bullet shown at the bottom of any slide show, the thumbnail that appears is always of the 1st image — and not the image of its respective slide.

As I previously indicated, I changed theme and all worked correctly. Slide show vendor states a .css conflict. Their reviewing the issue as well.

Perhaps you may have some insight as to the conflict.

    Thank you.
