Mahesh,
Thanks much, it worked.
Regards,
EdEdwardParticipantMahesh,
This mostly worked. However, since I have not chosen to display breadcrumbs on the homepage, a blank horizontal bar appears slightly below the homepage photo. On the other pages, the horizontal bar with the breadcrumbs touches the header, which is what I want.
Is there anyway to prevent this widget from showing on the homepage?
Thanks,
EdEdwardParticipantPratik,
Thank you, this worked.
I would be helpul if you published a “map” saying which tags affect different text areas. Either that, or make it modifiable from within the theme.
Thanks,
EdEdwardParticipantMahesh,
OK, for the overnight (I am in the USA, GMT -4) I set it so that the breadcrumbs are in the “before content” place. That widget is very thick. Can I adjust the thickess of the widget?
Thanks,
EdEdwardParticipant1. As to the error in my custom CSS, thanks much. I fixed it, but it didn’t change anything else.
2. As to changing the colors for the header text, thanks much for the CSS. However, it doesn’t make everything behave as I would want. If I change the text to be darker, because the homepage has a light photo, and I use your custom CSS, only the text on the homepage returns to white. Please keep in mind that I ONLY have a photo on the homepage. The text on the other pages, which always shows the black header, does not change back to white; it remains the colors I have set. Here are the possible solutions as I see it: a) use only darker photos, and keep the text white everywhere; b) find a way to prevent the header from going transparent, as long as no part of the photo is hidden; or c) find a way to insure that the header text on ALL pages can return to white with custom CSS.
3. As to the different activities of the transparent header on mobile devices, here is what happens on all three types of devices: a) COMPUTER: header starts out as transparent; when I scroll down, photo rolls off the top of the screen and the header turns to black. b) iPad with iOS 10: header does NOT start out transparent-it is always black-and the top half of the photo is hidden; if I drag down the entire photo appears under the black header until I let go; if I drag up (that is, scroll down) the photo then rolls off the top of the screen. c) iPhone 5c with iOS 10: When held vertically, black header hides entire photo. When held horizontally, black header hides most of the photo. Aside from that, the iPhone then behaves like the iPad, that is, if I drag down the entire photo appears under the black header until I let go; if I drag up (scroll down) the photo then rolls off the top of the screen as normal. Thanks again for your direction, and I hope my comments are not too confusing.
EdwardParticipantPratik,
By “header” I mean the font size of the introductory header in the “Content” section of the layout. If you go to my front page it’s the part that says “Welcome to Zohn & Zohn, LLP – Attorneys.” I don’t know which header sizes (H1, H2, etc.) attach to each of the elements.
Thanks,
EdEdwardParticipantMahesh,

Regards,
EdEdwardParticipantMahesh,
Thanks for your information. It’s what I thought.
The breadcrumb widget solution, however, isn’t perfect either. I would ideally place the breadcrumb in the “before content” widget, but it is much too thick (high) visually.
Can I change the size of widgets?
Thanks,
EdEdwardParticipantPratik,
That made things worse. When I do that, the black header NEVER shows up on a mobile device.
On the computer, the header starts out transparent. When you scroll a little, the black header kicks in. Right now mobile devices don’t do that.
And while we are at it, is there anyway to change the color of the header text during the time when the header is transparent? The header text is white; if the background photo is light, the header text is not visible when the black header is INvisible.
Again, sorry for these questions.
Thanks,
EdEdwardParticipantPartik,
I asked how to reduce headers on mobile devices.
But you raise another question: if there are two lines in custom CSS, one with max-with of 767 and font size of 12px, and another with max-width of 991 and font size of 14px, what is the priority? Will tablets have 14px and phones 12px?
The size of the headers, however, was my original question.
Thanks,
EdEdwardParticipantPratik,
Yes, this is what I mean. The header image does not behave on mobile devices as it does on a computer. On a computer, the menu starts out within the header image, then when you scroll down the black header takes over and now you see the menu within the black header. It does not work this way on mobile devices.
Regards,
EdEdwardParticipantI already found another map option-which can easily place a map in a widget. It’s called WP Google Map, by flippercode. I’d rather do this than insert code in a file.
EdwardParticipantPratik,
Thanks much.
Can we also make the headers smaller on mobile devices?
Thanks,
EdEdwardParticipantSarah,
What was your solution? I would like to do this too.
EdEdwardParticipantSakin,
Where is your reply?
EdEdwardParticipantInstalling 4.6.2 showed the same problem. So I went back to 4.6.
I just installed 4.6.3 and used your suggesting to delete “custom logo” in site identity. Didn’t work. Now, when I reinstalled 4.6, I could NOT go back to what I had before–a slide show of small photos in the logo, above the text. I can’t now find a way to do this with the image either above or below the logo text.
4.6.2 and 4.6.3 broke what worked fine before. I am not pleased.

EdwardParticipantMahesh,
Thanks for your quick response.
I tried uploading to a location in my website filesystem but that did not work. Any thoughts on why not?
Then I created a public link on my cloud storage provider (SugarSync) and that worked.
Thanks again,
EdEdwardParticipantSakin,
Ideally, I would be able to get the mobile menu to adopt the shading and separators (dots) of the regular first-level menu.
EdEdwardParticipantSakin,
Thanks much.

I would like the menu tabs to be the same color as my modified background (#1b4266) and the borders of the menu tabs to be a slightly lighter blue. The hover color would be the same lighter blue. The lighter blue could be perhaps the default blue of the theme.Regards,
