Hello,
I have 4 featured slides on my homepage.
I translated with WPML all the text of the 4 slides, but the first one does not appear translated, only the slide 2,3 and 4 are translated.
Can someone help me, please.
Thank youDecember 12, 2014 at 11:04 pm #48794SakinKeymaster@Delfim: This is strange. Please check it carefully and if you find the issue then please report to WPML support http://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
December 13, 2014 at 5:38 am #48815DelfimMemberHello Sakin,
I have reported this problem to WMPL, but because every string is translated they can not help me.
The problem is that every string that uses the first item does not appear translated.
The strings are:
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_title]1
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_link]1
[catchkathmandu_options][homepage_featured_content]1
[catchkathmandu_options][homepage_featured_title]1
[catchkathmandu_options][homepage_featured_url]1Please can you tell me if this is my problem?
Thank you
Kind regards
DelfimDecember 15, 2014 at 12:15 am #48861SakinKeymaster@Delfim: Can you show me the link of the support where you have posted in WPML. Then I will ask them personally. As they are the one to certify our theme Catch Kathmandu Pro as WMPL ready. See this http://wpml.org/theme/catch-kathmandu-pro/

December 18, 2014 at 4:25 pm #49034helenafjellgrenMemberI have the same problem! But the strange thing is that it has worked once but not anymore, the first slide does not translate and neither does the first featured content. WPML have tried to help me but not succeeded.

SakinJanuary 5, 2015 at 1:08 am #49569PieterParticipantSame problem here but not the first slide but with the first featured content block.
Slides are working with the general WPML pluging.
The feature content strings have been translated but whatever language I choose in the language selector, the first “box” keeps showing the default langauage (Dutch in my case).Best,
PieterJanuary 5, 2015 at 10:28 pm #49590SakinKeymaster@Pieter: We are still waiting for reply from WPML team as they need to check this. I think due to holiday session, it’s getting slow.
January 26, 2015 at 11:39 pm #50581BillParticipantHi. We upgraded from version 3.2 Pro to 4.0 Pro and found that the Sliders on the front page text was stuck on one of the languages, regardless of the language chosen by the user and regardless of the site default language. We have temporarily removed 4.0 and reverted to 3.2. We will advise WPML of this problem as well.
January 27, 2015 at 12:09 am #50583helenafjellgrenMemberHi Bill,
I never uppraded to 4.0 but still encountered the same problem with 3.2, wpml wants me to upgrade in order to do some further testing but are you still experiencing that problem now with 3.2?
Kind regards Helena
January 27, 2015 at 12:15 am #50584SakinKeymaster@helenafjellgren and @Bill: We have already submitted version 4.0 to WPML team and they are doing compatibility testing. Will let you know once I get answer from them.
January 27, 2015 at 12:37 am #50586BillParticipantHi Both. Our site is fine waiting until you work this out Sakin. Helena, our site is working fine now that we went back to 3.2 I am now wondering if it is a conflict between the versions, that is to say, our site is absolutely current with WPML. I am frankly not sure whether the problem happened when we upgraded WPML or when we switched to 4.0 Theme. Both upgrades were about the same time. I am sure though that when we go back to 3.2 the problem goes away on our site. (We operate three WPML sites so use it a lot but currently with a different theme).
In your case was the site long established or set up recently? If recently I wonder which version of WPML it was when set up. Just thoughts.January 27, 2015 at 1:52 am #50599SakinKeymaster@Bill: Let’s wait for few days to get response from WPML team. If this doesn’t work then I will try it in your server.
January 29, 2015 at 1:52 am #50734BillParticipantHi Sakin: This is the information I sent yesterday to WPML. This is very specific and I think clearly lays out the problem.
Hello Beda : Sorry for delay in reply. I checked and as you say the site is using the default Permalink Structure but that does not seem to be the cause of the trouble.
You are not quite correct in defining the problem.
The site runs the current version of all WPML plugins.
The site works perfectly with Version 3.2 of Kathmandu Pro.
The problem is only present when Version 4.0 of Kathmandu Pro is installed.
The problem is: SOME of the string translations on the Home/Front page do not change with the language switcher. ALL Page and Post translations switch properly. Some of the strings on the Home/Front Page work properly. It does not matter whether the language is the default language or one of the other 6 languages.
The specific strings which do not translate are in the general category of:
admin_texts_theme_catch-kathmandu-pro
The specific strings:
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_content]3
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_content]2
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_content]1
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_title]3
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_title]2
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_title]1
[catchkathmandu_options]homepage_subheadline
[catchkathmandu_options]homepage_headline
All other front page strings work properly.
I really believe this as an issue within version 4.0
Each of these strings does show content on the screen, it simply does not change with the language switcher.
To me it appears this is a Theme problem, not a WPML problem except to the extent that we all need to find out what is causing it and fix it. And at the moment the Theme seems not to be WPML compliant now.
Thanks for your help.
Feel free to look at the live site, but remember it is working fine at the moment because we have again reverted to the old version of the theme.
THIS IS HIS REPLY:
Thank you for the infosIf you can confirm:
1. In WPML > String Translations the mentioned strings do appear, and are translated + saved
2. Translate with WPML is active in WPML > Theme and Plugin localization
3. You are using a non-default Permalink StructureThen this issue is because the Theme (by it’s update) has made some changes regarding those strings.
The issue should then be addressed by the Themes Author.Could you provide me temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site
– preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible –
so I could quickly check some configurations?
You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.==> Please backup your database and website <==
I think afterwards (if all is good with your install) we will contact the author ourselves as well, to ensure going on compatibility with WPML
Thank you
I have replied to him that all of the settings are as he requires. That we have again switched the theme versions back and forth and everything works perfectly with 3.2 and the problem remains with 4.0
The site is currently running on 3.2
I have given him an administrative account on the site AND I have given him your name.
It would seem to make sense for the two of you to compare notes.
If however you want an access to the site, that can be arranged.
You can look at the site at any time: http://www.intoghf.org (but remember it is using 3.2).
Thanks!
BillJanuary 29, 2015 at 11:02 pm #50781January 30, 2015 at 12:54 am #50788DelfimMemberHello Sakin,
WPML already fix some string translations, but not all of them.
I still have no translation for the strings:
[catchkathmandu_options][featured_image_slider_content]1
[catchkathmandu_options][homepage_featured_content]1Please can you contact WPML about this problem.
This issue is now almost 2 months old and we are still waiting for an answer.Thank you
