I have three websites for my sons business MattFurness.co.uk, SessionDrummer.co.uk and DrumTeacher.co.uk. Today I checked the PageSpeed Insights on the home page of all three (which use the same Rock Star Pro theme) and the last one has considerably superior load times to the other two. I have been through the Additional CSS and checked plugins but nothing seems to improve the first two. All three are very similar in structure so I would not expect large differences.
I am now coming to the conclusion that it is the YouTube videos feature which slows them down. Does it really have such an impact? Have I coded something wrong do you think?
Many thanks, Chris

I checked all three of the sites and did not find a significant difference in their load times.
Did you perform any tests on your sites to know their exact load times? If yes could you share the respective load times of the three sites.Kind Regards,

Using PageSpeed Insights I have just had the following results, which are similar to those of the other day. All sites are on the same server.
MattFurness.co.uk Mobile 28 Desktop 54
DrumTeacher.co.uk Mobile 46 Desktop 96
SessionDrummer.co.uk Mobile 27 Desktop 58I appreciate that speed isn’t everything but I found the results a bit surprising.
Look forward to hearing from you

I checked your site but didn’t find any clue as to why DrumTeacher.co.uk has higher page load time. Can you try contacting your Web Server and see if they can provide any insight?
Kind Regards,

June 21, 2019 at 12:18 am #175422SkandhaParticipant@rodeboy: Hello Chris,
I did check the reports. Looks like much of the increase in load time is due to the embedded youtube videos.
Can you for once disable all the youtube videos and then run the site through this test and check if the results improve.Kind Regards,
SkandhaJune 21, 2019 at 5:54 am #175440RodeBoyParticipantUsing the SessionDrummer website I have just performed tests using PageSpeed Insights both with and without the videos (they are back in again now) Results as follows;
Mobile – 28 (with videos), 77 (without)
Desktop – 44 (with videos), 98 (without)I am no programmer but it certainly seems that the way the videos are loaded affects things. I use the YouTube plugin by EmbedPlus on another site, with a different theme, to display YouTube videos and it only has a minimal affect on loading times.
I hope you can find the issue which is causing this.
Regards and thanks,
Chris

Embedding youtube videos will surely add to the page load time.I need you will need to use caching plugin as well. I suggest you to seek professional help regarding this.Kind Regards,
SkandhaJune 24, 2019 at 6:45 am #175596RodeBoyParticipantHi Skandha, I use the free version of WP Fastest Cache on all my websites, other than MattFurness where I have the Pro version in place. Surely this should all help.
To be fair both MattFurness and SessionDrummer feature well on Google Searches so I don’t think the page speed is having an overly negative effect. Therefore I won’t change things here, but I thought the feedback for yourselves of the impact the Catch plugin has would be useful, and may give you ‘food for thought’ on improving the Pro theme further.
