    Hi,

Firstly, thank you for an amazing theme! I am just having problems when changing the permalinks. I would like them to have the post name in the URL, not the default option.

However, when I change it none of my pages work. If you could help that would be great.

    Thanks,

    Jenny

@kellettjen: For changing default permalink structure you can go to “Settings => Permalinks” then choose “Post name” and save changes.

Thanks Sakin… that wasn’t working – I was getting 404 errors. But managed to fix it by changing my htaccess file.

    Thanks 🙂

@kellettjen: Oh so you have .htaccess file permission issue otherwise it will have been auto.

I am experiencing the same problem. I am new to blogging and word press. How do I change my .htaccess file permissions?

Ok, I figured out where my .htcaccess file is but I don’t know how to update it or what I need to add to it.

@krod: See this http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions for changing file permission. But if you are confused about this then I recommend contacting your Hosting Server support and they will change this for sure.

    Hello Sakin,

in http://www.3bulavki.com.ua I default permalinks, but when I change them into “post name”, links do not work – they simply do not direct anywhere. I started this site on free Catch everest theme, and the problem was the same. Please advise how I could correct this. Thanks!

    Hello Yuliya,

For changing default permalink structure you can go to “Settings => Permalinks” then choose the appropriate permalink structure. But for this permalink structure to work, there should write permission for .htaccess file. You can change the permission of .htaccess file to 644. Or you need to manually add the structure in .htaccess file.

So, either you need to change the permission by yourself though FTP or Hosting Control panel or you need to ask your Web Hosting Server to change this file permission.

For more about permalinks check out http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

    Sakin,

I have not found .htaaccess file on hosting control pannel. In which directory could this file be? Doea it go automatically with theme? Thanks!

    Hello Yuliya,

It’s not theme issues. It’s your WordPress installation. You can try any theme, it will be same. That is why I gave you link from WordPress that explains about .htaccess file http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

If you cannot fine .htaccess file then you can create one with 644 file permission. It should be in the root directory where you have wp-config.php file.

    Regards,
    Sakin
