Is there any way to replicate the featured content area on a (non-home) page? Perhaps by using a child theme?
Or, alternatively, is there a widgetised area that spans the width of a page, above the footer area? That way, I could use featured content widgets.

Do you want to add in a different featured content, or do you want to hide featured content on homepage? The second option can be done using custom CSS.For the widgetized area, you will need to hire a customizer for this as there will be a need to do quite a bit of customization.

Homepage features “Accommodation” “Spectacular Views” “Things To Do”
“Things To Do” page features “Golf” “Day Trips” “In the Neighbourhood” etc
I can probably achieve what I want by clever use of divs containing images and links on the “Things To Do” page, but I like the way the featured content area on the homepage behaves responsively.
