Hi all,

Been tinkering with catch gallery for a bit and can’t seem to get it to work. I created a new page, went to media, added a gallery, and upload 265 (I know, a lot, but they’re optimized) photos to it. However, when I went to preview the page, they all came up as thumbnails, and I couldn’t click into them to view them larger.

How do I get it to a place where it looks like this? https://catchthemes.com/demo/simple-persona/style-guide/gallery/

I know the above was made with the Jetpack Tile Gallery, but I was under the assumption that Catch Gallery did the same.

@mateo: After creating gallery you can choose the layout of your images on right corner under “Gallery Settings => Type”Choose Tiled Mosaic” then click on “Update Gallery“.
This should change your Gallery Images to Tiled Mosaic.

Hi Skandha, thanks for the reply, but it didn’t work.

Whenever I click “Edit Gallery” the only option I have is to add photos and Update Gallery. When I look on the right-hand side, the only options I see, as far as changing how the photos are presented, are #s of columns.

Hi Skandha,

After finding other gallery instructions, I see that what’s missing for me is the size + type option under “Edit Gallery,” so either something is broken on my theme/plugin, or the overall plugin is broken.

@mateo: To add a Gallery using Catch Gallery, Edit a Page => Add Block => Formatting => Classic. You will find a list of options now. Now, from the list of buttons click on Add Media. Then Select some images and Create a New Gallery. Then you will find Gallery Settings on the right hand side with Size and Type Options and finally Insert Gallery.

Let me know if you are still having issues using Catch Gallery.

@skandha thanks so much for the detailed steps you suggested – I had the same problem as original poster, with catch gallery/tiles mosaic not working. Seems the only way to get to it is to go through the classic block, upload media, and only through there can you find add gallery and the tile options. Question I have is once we’ve created through there, is there a way we can edit/add to the gallery? So far only work around I’ve found is deleting and re-uploading. Is there any way you know of to edit it? Thanks in advance for your help.

@nedamirza: You can edit the Gallery after inserting it on your post/page. To edit you will need to refresh the page then you will see the Gallery preview and will be able to edit the gallery without having to reinsert it. We will work on this bug.

Hi @Skandha, I’ve got the same problem as Mateo: after I create a catch gallery, there are only thumbnails, and I can’t click to them to show the original images.
When I edit the gallery in admin section, there’s no settings controls, only “Update Gallery” button in the bottom right corner.

@nedamirza: To use Catch Gallery
Add New Block => Formatting => Classic Block => Add Media => Create Gallery => Select the images you want in your Gallery => Create New Gallery => Now Select the type and size of the Gallery images you want in the Gallery Settings and Click Insert Gallery.

Let me know if you still have issue using Catch Gallery.
