Whether it be a PVP match, quest, dungeon raid, etc., competition in WoW can be very fierce. Completing the dungeon on normal with that character gives you an achievement and pet. Diablo 3 has a small area and dungeon which mimics the original Diablo. Casuals pointed out that raiders were a small minority of the player base, and that the devs spent too many resources on them. For those of you who dont play FFXIV, the crown denotes a Mentor, a high-level player who is supposed to help new players. Its kind of like a university, where professors give high level lectures, but graduate students are the teaching assistants and help students with problems. On the one hand this is good because it keeps queues hopping, and sends veteran players back to help newbies. On the other hand, that means the veteran playstyles dominate all facets of the game. If you have infinite amounts of useful low level characters, the game is going to break. According to a recent interview, specs can have niches, thats okay. So people can target those activities if they need that exact piece. You need to have at least three classes at max level, a tank, healer and a damage dealer. The grind is still there, but at least there is no random factor in obtaining loot. In WoW, there are Treasure Goblins which spawn in the Broken Isles, in the Dalaran Sewers, or at the end of instances. As a result, Mentors are the top slice of people in the game. As the concept is same so it is not the one that brings innovation but for the MMO space and fantasy world full of adventure and exploration the game is a must try. These people still do it as a race, to try and get a world first. Apparently the Cow King is a mess on PvP servers, but thats what you get for rolling PvP. Killing the Cow King gives you a toy. But then the random system gives you more gear because it expects you to end up wasting a large amount of it. The Command XP system would still exist, but would be more supplemental. They would still be decent at the game, but would be closer to the new player experience, and better able to give advice from that perspective. Theres a filter making all the graphics look old-school and pixelated, tho...
