Unable to update from 4.3.2 to 4.4

I tried updating several times from 4.3.2 to 4.4 via the WP admin panel. Each time I get an "update successful" message but when I log out and then in again, I get the update message again. Something isn't working, I don't know if the problem lies with WP or the theme. I have the latest WP version installed, 6.0. Thank you for your help!
