turn off comments

I have a new blog with catch responsive. I want to turn off all comments on the blog posts permanently. I have looked at WP support but the information does not seem relevant for this theme. I don't know how but my last couple of blog posts do not have a "comment" option on them. But the first few blogs do and I want to turn it off. It must be possible because somehow the recent blog posts do not have the comment option.
