Treat homepage like blog

My homepage is serving as the overall blog and I'd like to limit it to 5 posts, then give users the option of clicking a page number or going to previous posts on the bottom. I went into Settings > Reading and limited this but all posts are still showing up on the homepage. My website is www.scifiled.com. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks, Matt
