Theme upgrade wipes out all work! HELP!!!

For the second time since purchasing the pro version of High Responsive, there has been an update to the theme. I download the update, upload it to my WordPress site and it installs and WIPES OUT MY WEBSITE! This is completely unacceptable! Why does this happen? Why does the free version update directly through WordPress and the Pro version not? But more importantly, why does it replace my work with the default theme? This has undone weeks of my work.
