TablePress – transparent background

I am trying to do what seems like would be simple task, but I have not found anything that works so far. Ok, I am using Catch Base theme. I have a simple table created with WP tablepress. The background is white (ugly). All I want to do is make the background of this table, transparent. Using Css code appears to be overwritten by the theme. Can someone give me a simple solution to this? Would be awesome! thanks!
