Splitting Footer Into 3 Columns Like Demo

I really like the way the Verity demo has the 3 columns in the footer, with the about, recent posts, and numbered archives, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do that on my own site. I'm assuming there is some built-in functionality with the theme that I'm missing, but hoping someone can help me figure out how to achieve this layout. Thanks in advance for any help!
