spacing between gaps

I have a consistent problem with writing text into either Page or Post edit panels.When I cut and paste any text from my wordprecessor or PDF file, the ensuing text has huge spacing gaps between the lines and this mke my content looks ugly on screen. Can there be a way to reduce gaps between lines and between headings and body of text?
