Social Icons and the CT Social Widget

I have set up the social links in the both the Catch Web tools and under customize/social links. I have dragged the CT Social widget to the Footer 3 position. But no social icons show up on the front end. The widget seems to be looking for content, and the save button is greyed out. Can you help.
