Slider text and scroll arrows appear as white box

Hi, When using IE or Firefox in the new Windows 8 platform, the featured slider text and scroll arrows appear as transparent white boxes. Why are windows 8 internet browsers having a difficult time displaying this text? is it a browser update issue or an operating system issue? It works fine in all browsers on my MAC and Windows 7 PC.
