Slider Image Quality

Hi, I upload high resolution images to use on homepage slider but when uploaded they appear very poor quality. My original images are 1920px X 1080px and 240dpi. Also would like to remove the page titles from the center of each homepage slider image as well as remove the page links in the nav bar. I'm trying to create just a simple full page image slider.
