Slider content not showing after update

Hi, after updating WP to version 3.42 and Catch Box theme to 1.5.1 and later 1.5.2 the slider on the Homepage only shows the back and forward arrows but no more content. The slider worked before these updates. I went through the configuration process serveral times, made sure the posts have featured images activated. I only made minor changes in the style.css. I discovered, that most of the CSS and javascript does not load with the page any more! Additional plug-ins are WPML and Contact Form 7. Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason or where to seek for a solution? Any help would greately be appreciated!
