Slider and blog

Hi my wife and I are off to climb Island Peak in Nepal in a few weeks and wanted to get our blog\site. To start the site I added some images to go in the slider. Www.grayscottage.co.uk/blog The thing is this now makes the blog confusing as the photos appear as blogs but are unrelated. I want the slider have some images in but hide these blog posts. Can it be done? I also want the blog to start from day 1 and then have all the rest following I.e. oldest first. Any help appreciated.
