Side Bar Problem

Hi, I am having problem with Side Bars. I have a Primary Side bar and also set up the Page Optional Side Bar. My Blog Page Settings are Layout Default, Sidebar Default and the Layout Options Default is Content, Primary Sidebar. It all works fine. However, My other pages keep showing the Page Alternative Side Bar even though they have the same settings. I am not sure which takes priority, Layout Settings or Page Settings. I cannot seem to get any of the pages to display the Primary Side Bar. Trevor
