shortcodes fail in posts and pages?

I am attempting to add another plugin's shortcode inside an event post in the Euphony theme. The site just displays an error code related to the shortcode when viewed on the homepage, but it renders the content perfectly when viewed as a post or page. How is the homepage view of posts and pages through sections different than viewing them independently?
