Search box and overlapping posts

Just upgraded an hour ago. www.north-forks. com. Two things I've noticed: 1. Really huge search bar across the top of the page. How do I get rid of this search bar altogether and tighten things up? 2. Part way down the blog feeds, I have a single post without a photo, intentionally. (Summertime Has Come and Gone & North Fork Table) However, these two posts seem to have jumbled together on the home page. The photo for the first post is above it, and the text for the second post is beside the first. How do I fix this? Everything else looks right to my eye so far.
