Rename menu options in mobile

Hi, I'd like to modify the mobile menu options but I'm not sure how. In my desktop version, I made a custom menu and added images instead of text for the menu buttons. In the mobile version, the images disappear and there is no text to replace it - so all I see are blank selection options. Is there a way I can have the mobile nav switch to show text? I'm sorry I can't provide a link, my site isn't live yet.
