Remove Author/Date from only single.php

I found some info on removing author/date, but I want to do it on just the single post page (single.php), not site-wide. Is it possible to insert the style information into the head on just that page? I'm very new to php, and I'm having problems understanding how to edit the code when it is just php and no html (like in header.php etc.). Thanks!
