Problem with text alignment in columns

Hi there I'm trying to find the best way to list products, alongside their description and specification. The alignment is difficult just entering the image and text so I tried tables, like this page http://www.educationalinteriors.co.uk/dining-chairs/ but I find that the theme adds a border top and bottom. Also, the alignment of the text in the columns moves down if I put each block of text between the <td> and < /td> tags. I thought I would try columns, using the jshortcodes plugin. It seperates the sections nicely, but the text alignment is strange.
