Problem with Header and Featured Post Slider

Hello, I'm using the Catch Everest Theme and customizing it for a website I'm working on. I'm having an issue with the header. The client wanted the header image that I posted (www.pressedandpulled.com/test/). It is designed to go the whole way across the top of the site. I turned off the header right part even though I would like the Facebook link available. It goes across the top, but with the responsive settings, there is weird padding that I can't seem to change. If I turn responsive off, the header gets fixed, but then the spacing is off elsewhere. Any suggestions on fixing this? I thought about seeing if I could make the grass a repeating background image to help with the responsive part and then make the logo separate, but wasn't sure if I could do that with this. Second, I read the instructions for the Featured Post, but can't seem to get it to work. I add an image to page 52 (Exhibitions) and then tried to set it, but it didn't work. It clearly was seeing it but no image or text loaded. I undid it for now. Your instructions mentioned something about Featured Image but I can't locate it. Thanks.
