Problem with comments

Hello, I followed the directions quoted below: "Catch Box Free version just uses WordPress default comment system. So, for all new post and pages, you can disable it from “Settings => Discussion” and for all old posts and pages, you have to edit that posts and pages and remove Allow Comment from Discussion boxes. For more visit http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/" Yet my comments still show up. Is there an alternative method ?
