Primary Menu not showing up

I have followed the instructions (and watched the video) for the creation and display of a primary menu but it does not appear on the site. I tried changing the colors to see if that was an issue but it did not work. It was clearly chosen as the primary menu and the location was set, etc. If I create a secondary menu, that one shows up just fine, in the correct location for a secondary menu. Thanks for any help.
