Phone number link in header returns function – tel: ' . esc_attr(…)'

The link for telephone number in header returns a function, not the phone number. tel:' .esc_attr( preg_replace('/\s+/',",get_theme_mod('highrespnsive_phone'))).' Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance!
