optional sidebar one

Hi, On the frontpage of our website I will display the name of our sponsors in the sidebar. I putted two images in the optional sidebar one and said that this sidebar must shown at the frontpage. Nothing happened. The regular sidebar I used in the members part of our website, zo I think I need an option sidebar. In the topics on the supportforum I cannot find a solution for this.
