No Post in the Frontpage

I want to show no post in the frontpage (startsite) Is this possible? When I select no post, there comes a Error 404-Page NOT Found, Ready to publish your first post message. And when I create a Post, I cant style it in the frontpage. In the post himself I can style it but in the frontpage it looks complete diffrent. Thanks Robert
