“News” headline on home page appears to be hardcoded, where to edit?

There appears to be NO settings to change or override the homepage title "News". The obvious place 'Customise > Settings for start page'  gives only options to show latest posts or static page. This is a serious flaw in the theme and means that non-English sites suffer. Where do I change this!?!?
