News and Events Sections on Homepage missing – Help?

Hi ALl, Question one: I have installed Intuitive Free and the Events and News sections (as shown in the Intuitive demo) do not appear on my home page. Does anyone have any guidance on what is going wrong for me? How can I make them show? I have events and news content published but it deosn't show on the home page. Question 2: Does anyone have a template I can add to make the News archive page look better. The current one looks poor? Any ideas? I have a child theme
