New to this theme and need a little help.

On the site I have inherited I see the following layout on the homepage: Featured Slider Hero Featured Content Portfolio Contact Testimonials On the featured slider or between the slider and Hero content I want to add some buttons/declaraions such as a badge for Avvo, Yelp top 10, Google 5 star rated, and more type of icons that will help build confidence. How can I can a section between Featured Slider and Hero blocks/sections? Also I have a static home page defined but none of the content actually appears on the site. I did a view source and looked for it. No where to be found. I know we are on an old version of the theme too - 1.x. Thx
