Move from Free to Pro theme

Hi, I have a question around moving from Free to Pro theme. In our Free theme we have styled some parts, can this style.css be reused into the Pro theme? I assume we need to create a new child and apply the style.css from Free theme to Pro theme and then start to use all new functions in Pro theme? Just want to have clear step by step without causing to much interfering with our site front end. Per
