more tag without link

Dear Mahesh: I am not fully satisfied with excerpts beeing cut off after a prefixed number of words. Neither with writing the desired lenght of the excerpt manually. Unfortunately, the more-tag doesn't work properly: it cuts off the text but without filling in the necessary link to the full-text page. Any solution available for using the more-tag as originally shown in the WP-codex? Best regards, Frank (wolpertinger)
