Mobile Preview does not match true mobile view

When I customize my site in Wordpress and click the mobile view icon at the bottom left, it shows the mobile view I prefer which has a single column of images all in portrait. When I use my phone to look at my website it's completely different. It has two columns and all the images have been cut in half. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!
